Hey y'all! I hope that you are having fun for the next few days before school starts. My inservices start tomorrow. At school, we tend to look at each others class lists and say "Oh no...you have HIM?" or "Good Luck with her, she is bad." I know we have all heard it and might be guilty of saying it. We are human and sometimes negativity gets in our way.
I found this quote by Dr. Kevin Maxwell and it speaks volumes. Schools are not like they used to be. Parents don't help kids anymore because they simply don't have time or they just don't want to deal with it. Some parents think that teaching should only be done at home. We can't change their minds but we can change the way WE think. Start this year with a POSITIVE outlook. Don't "brand" those certain kids..Give them a chance to prove themselves to you so they have a "fresh start."
The most important thing that I have learned about teaching is to show them love and show them that you care. You can be their constant in their life if they don't have one. I hope that you have an awesome year and if you would like to share your experiences, please share in the comments. Love y'all!!
