Best Pencil Sharpener Ever!

Oh my goodness!! I have seen lots of videos online and on social media about this pencil sharpener.  Teachers are calling it the "Best pencil sharpener ever!"  and I now have to agree!!!!
Each pencil is sharpened so sharp.  I have never seen a sharpener sharpen a pencil like this before!
When you go to:

You can buy in bulk or individually.  This site is from an actual teacher and the prices are great!
I have a very expensive electric sharpener at school and it has already broken within a few months.  It can be mounted or not.  They have a wide variety of colors.  A portion of the cost goes to a charity.  Please, check this site out!  I will be purchasing another one very soon!

Dollar tree find

I just can't help myself..everytime that I go to Dollar Tree, I come up with another idea for my centers....I found these alphabet beads with some lacing cord... I just typed up our spelling list and BAM!!!! I have a literacy center made in 5 minutes!
Funny thing is...I went in to the Dollar Tree just to get picture frames lol
Just stop by your local Dollar Tree and you can't imagine all of the things that you can use in your classroom.  The best part is that it is only $1.00 a piece and that is great for a frugal teacher like I am!

I have been presenting at many technology conferences in the past 3 years and I have found that these are the best apps that I have found effective in my classroom with my firsties.  They might not work for all students but I wanted to share what I have compiled.  I am attaching my sheet of apps and you are more than welcome to share these with other teachers as well!
I hope that you have a wonderful school year, mine has just begun.  I am exhausted (I'm not going to lie) but I am already loving my new class.

Another Office Depot Haul

Another Sunday Office Depot haul.. All of this for $8.00!!!
First of all, make sure that you have a Teacher Star reward card from Office depot.  You have to spend $5.00 minimum but it is so worth going.  Every teacher loves Ticonderoga pencils.  I grade with markers so the Crayola markers were a big deal.  They were .25 and some of the other items were .01.  The pencils and the reinforced looseleaf paper were $1.00 but it was still a great deal!

Tech camp day 3

If you have been following me on social media, especially Periscope, I have posted lots of videos of  the activities that the students have done over this past week.  My first tech camp is complete.  I was worried with the 5th and 6th graders because I usually teacher first graders but I have to say that I enjoyed them so much!  We had an excellent group and they even taught me things about coding.  We have some talented students in our district.  Students have already made their own games.  I can't say enough about how much fun I had this past week...I'm exhausted but I had fun lol  I can't wait until next summer!

Student is using a program to code:  www.made with code.com

www.madewithcode.com

Student using www.tinkercad.com to design their 3D printing project.

The two above pics are of our tech campers trying to figure out Breakoutedu.
You can also use the online version www.breakoutedu.com/digital.

Tech camp day 2

First picture above is of one of our campers who is looking for images online to design his 3D project.  He will then go to the program Tinkercad to design his project.

This student is coding a project from Tynker.

The 3 above pictures are students using the virtual reality glasses.

These students are coloring pictures from the website www.quivervision.com
Then the students scan the color sheets using the Quiver app.  This is an augmented reality activity.

First Grade Helpers and a little diary.....

Yes......
It is only July.....
and yes......
I am already having dreams of school.....
I actually had one yesterday that I was going to have 30 students in my class-lol
Most of my teacher friends said that would be a nightmare, not a dream!!
I really don't want to get so stressed at the beginning of the year because it will come fast.
I am working at a tech camp, on a few summer DCA committees, going to a lesson plan training, and training to be a Seesaw ambassador...whew....
Also, son is in tournament baseball and I Periscope and I'm on Theteacherblabshow on blab.  Yes, I don't know how to say no or slow down. I figure that life is too short and if you have opportunities, you need to take them right?  I am always wanting to learn and the only way to do that is to be a part of many things.  Social Media is a BIG part of it!  I have met so many teachers and has made so many friends out of social media that I don't regret one bit of it!  I have learned so much and I love collaborating with all of you!
This is one thing that i'm working on...
I print this up every year.  It is from Michelle Oakes.  Click on the picture to take you to her TPT link.  It is $2.50 and it is so worth it(it is on sale on 7/3 and 7/4 for $2.00.)  I just print them from my home computer, laminate them with my personal laminator, and trim the ends.  I usually let the students put them in their binders/folders.  Sometimes, students end up just putting them in their desk and pull them out for quick reference.  I hope you all have a wonderful summer!

Last Feature Teacher Tuesday

NOOO!  It’s come to an end!  This is the last blog post for a while of the Featured Teacher Tuesdays!
FeaturedTeacher2.png
Heidi Neels from Flipping for First is a spunky and organized first grade teacher!
Years of tumbling, cheerleading and a passion for teaching made her blog name come to life!  She has been teaching for 9 years, 6 of those being in first grade!  She has truly found her teaching niche!

Heidi has been married for 15 years (yep, he’s tied up in the basement) and has two beautiful girls ages 15 (don’t do the math) and 10!  Faith brings joy in her life each and every day!  God has blessed her family and teaching career!  She is a middle child (typical middle child syndrome) and requires lots of attention from those around her!
Organization fuels Heidi through first grade!  (It may be a disease!)  Check out her blog for some amazing tips on how to organize Words Their Way, Listening Stations, Behavior Management, Erin Condren Planner, Common Core Assessments, Classroom tips and so much more!

Laughing is important to Heidi!  Mo Willems, first grade quotes, and National Lampoon movies can put a smile on her face.  Just like Wimberly, Heidi can worry a lot!  Therefore Heidi clings to
Psalm 46:10  “Be still, and know I am God!

Heidi’s best seller is her Editable Daily Behavior Chart!  This is an amazing product that every teacher who has a student with challenging behavior needs!!  Heidi loves to hear success stories about teachers using this in their classrooms!!
Slide01.png
Fry’s First 100 Sight Words came about when she had 30% of her students struggling with sight words!  Yikes!  To overcome this obstacle, Heidi created a product that focuses on teaching the words in context using pictures, repetition, and motor skills!  She ended that year with 100% of her students knowing all first grade sight words!  Love it!
Slide6.png
Heidi’s First Grade Common Core Math Assessments are a full year’s worth of assessments!  She even has a blog post with a yearly calendar to help you plan!
